Is there an immersive performance space coming to NYC? Extell thinks so.
45th Street and 11th Avenue, Extell’s proposed location.
Crain’s reported this week that Extell Development filed paperwork to demolish half a block on 11th Avenue and West 45th in Hell’s Kitchen to make way for ABBA Voyage, a holograph-forward concert designed by … ABBA. The planned arena, per Crain’s and the local news site W42ST, will be 175,000 square feet and have a capacity of 3,000.
Lincoln’s Take: Will this be a permanent venue? With the ever increasing demand for immersive performance spaces, think The Sphere in Vegas. It seems that NYC is due for this sort of venue. Extell is no stranger to midtown development and 11th Avenue on this stretch is still relatively ripe for development.
